Art Journal For Beginners Day One Part 2

So, this is as far I have come. I have cut up some scrapbooking sheets to fit the pages in my journal. To use as bacground panels in the journal I want my journal to be colorful, but not "screaming".

I haven't gotten very far in my research yet, but I have learned that Gesso is something I really have to buy.

I am also turning the house upside-down for magazines I can find nice images for some collages.

Blowing dust of rubberstamps I haven't used in ages, and other things I can use to make my Art Journal something unique.

I have to admit I am getting really excited about this. And I feel 100% sure I will have A LOT of fun making it!

Art Journal For Beginners Day One

I have always wanted to make an Art Journal. I like to think of myself as creative, but I am no artist, I can't draw or paint to save my life. Still I really want to give it a go. And I decided not to jump alone, so I created a swap for it at swap-bot.com. And there seem to be many of us out there who wants to try this out. :o)

Now, is it even possible, for a first-timer to turn this plain and dull notebook into a little piece of art?!?
Only time will tell.

Drop by from time to time to see how my progress for my first Art Journal is going. And please, do not be afraid
to leave comments, give me some pointers, suggestions or what ever.

Christmas ATC's

These ATC's were made for a Christmas In April ATC swap at swap-bot-com. Hooked on vintage as I am, I had to make also these in a vintage-style. The snowmen are from cutting-sheets from Panduro. I just LOVE them!!!! After Christmas I stocked up on them when they were half-off. I like using leaf gold on my cards, but not too much on vintage things, just a touch of "bling". ;o)

Various ATC's

Here are one of my first ATC's. Still very afraid to put too much on the little card I see. ;o) This swap was for Favorite TV Show I think. Looking at this now almost make me a little ashamed. It looks so "naked". But I guess one have to start somewhere and build up a "comfort-zone" for what and how much one can embellish an ATC with. :o)

Here is an ATC I made for a swap-partner who liked Vintage, and vintage adds. I really liked the "seeds-add" I found on a cutting-sheet. I hope she liked it as well. :o)

For a Seinfeld-ATC swap at swap-bot.com I made this ATC dedicated to my favorite Seinfeld character, George Costanza.

Thank You Card

My mom just got her last round of chemo, and wanted to give the nurses at the hospital a Thank You Card, so I jumped at the chance to make a card.

I am really into Vintage these days, so I went with a Vintage card.

For the background I jused an old bookpage I distressed with Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Vintage Photo. I jused some leaf-gold on the side to give it some "glam", together with the beads on the other side.

I used a Martha Stewart punch for the edges next to the image, and under the lace.

The Birdcage-stamp is from Glitz Design, the flowers from Kort & Godt, the lace and buttons is something I had lying around.

The image is from a scrapbooking sheet, but I can't remember who it's from. I destressed the corners on the image with a fine sandpaper.

This is the first card I've made in over a year without layer on layer panels, but I am pretty happy with the result. I will probably make many more cards in the same style in the future.

My First Swap

So, I discovered swap-bot.com!!!! :)

What a fantastic site for us creative souls! A place where you can create, and swap your creations with strangers all over the world. All the different swaps on the site makes it possible for you to try out new things you never even tried before. But most amazing is how much inspiration you get from all the other swappers! :)

My first swap was an ATC-swap, with the theme "Favorite Movie". The task was to make one ATC to illustrate your favorite movie, and one ATC to illustrate your favorite character from the movie.
For me the it was an easy choice, Gone With The Wind, and Scarlett O'Hara. (What a woman!)
My creative style is maximalistic, but these cards I tried to keep simple, but still a little decorated. I just hope the my swapping-partner will like them! :)
I have a new swap coming up that has a deadline the 16th, so stay tuned! :)

Fugle-godis
